I only took one rabbit to show. Ouachita. Ouachita is out of Grace Hollow's Everlong (a broken black doe) and Schmidt's Kirby (a blue buck). That will make Ouachita a dilute carrier. Meaning, she will be able to produce blue kits when bred to a buck that carries dilute also.
1. We did get Ouachita registered and send off for her G.C. She will be a registered G.C. soon.
2. I not only managed to purchase a blue buck, but also purchased a blue doe. Then I had a second doe "gifted" to me. AND... I had the winning bid for the broken blue buck that was on the youth scholarship auction block. YAY!
3. To my greatest pleasure... not only was Ouachita not the first rabbit to leave the table, she managed to pull off a class win. She was the BEST SENIOR BROKEN DOE.... AT NATIONALS! Okay so not a BOB at nationals... not even a BOV... but I'm TOTALLY cool with a class win. This is where all the BIG breeders bring their VERY best rabbits to compete against all the other BIG breeders and their VERY best rabbits. I'm not a big breeder... I only have a small rabbitry. And I've only been breeding New Zealands for 6 years. Black and Broken black only for 3 years. So this was a HUGE win for Grace Hollow Rabbitry. I am more than ecstatic! Congratulations Ouachita. You made mama proud!
And in case you're wondering... Yes. Ouachita is now bred. She's bred to G. C. Grace Hollow's Cash. Cash is also a dilute carrier so I have have hopes for some dynamite broken blue kits! Be sure to watch for those after the first of May!
