This wasn't a big weekend as far as wins go. But the shows in Duncan are my favorite because there are so many of us female New Zealand Exhibitors... Laura, Roxanne, Renessa, Ginger, Vicky, Courtney, and me. Then sometimes Malory will pop up in the ranks with us. There are a few gentlemen that join us sometimes. They are always a pleasure also. Lucky for me Tate came this weekend with a couple of blues. Unfortunately, all my showable blue new zealands are bred. Two of them with litters when I got home this morning. However, I picked up a young blue buck from our Mr. Tate... I'm glad to add some fresh blood to my lines. Thank you Tate.
As for the entries... I took Oachita and Houston. Houston just weaned her litter of 5 so I took her to get her registered. But there wasn't a registrar available. Oachita won her class for two shows, fortunately it was a large enough class for her to earn her qualifying leg for Grand Champion. She will soon retire from the show tables and join the brood team. Congrats Oachita.
There was a chicken auction going on next door. I sold 8 rabbits, purchased 1, was spending time with a youth that is interested in raising and showing new zealands, my brother stopped in to visit me... needless to say I was especially busy and distracted. But finally my brother and I made our way over to the chicken auction. Sadly, they were closed up for the day and all the chickens were gone. The last seller was loaded up and pulling his trailer out of the building. The writers were still at the tables doing the end of sale write ups so with reluctance I asked if they knew any BBS (Black, Blue, Splash) Orpington breeders. As luck would have it... the dude pulling the trailer out of the building was just such a guy. I was able to purchase some splash orpingtons and made an order for some black and blue orps also. What a day...
